There’s a role for everyone in Swad in Bloom, no matter your age, background or experience. Whether you have green fingers, creative flair, a passion for your community (or just a free hour to spare) we’d love to welcome you!

Community Litter Picking

Help keep Swadlincote beautiful and clean!

Our community litter picks are a simple but effective way to improve our shared spaces and show pride in where we live.

What you can do at our litter picking events:

Join organised clean-up days in parks, streets, or community areas

Collect litter with grabbers and bags (all equipment provided)

yellow butterfly

Work in pairs or groups for safety and fun

Enjoy a chat and a cuppa afterwards!

Our litter picking events are for anyone to join, from students to retirees, families to local business. Just drop us a message or check out the calendar and we would love to include you in our next event. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Market Stalls and Fundraising

As a not-for-profit group, all of Swad in Bloom’s activities are funded by donations, grants, and community fundraising. Supporting our fundraising efforts is a great way to contribute, even if you can’t commit regularly.

Princess Diana Memorial Garden

We’re proud to care for this peaceful and meaningful space in Swadlincote Town Centre. The Princess Diana Memorial Garden is a place of reflection, memory, and community pride.

Volunteer tasks include:

No gardening experience is needed, just a willingness to help and learn.

Flower Bed Planting Around Swadlincote

From public beds to planters and baskets, Swad in Bloom keeps Swadlincote colourful year-round. We coordinate planting across key areas in the town, often in partnership with schools and businesses.

Swad in Bloom’s Craft Club is all about creativity and community spirit. We make decorations for events, fundraising stalls, and the town’s Community Tree — a beautiful seasonal display in the heart of Swadlincote.

Annual Sunflower Competition

Our sunflower competition brings out the friendly, growing spirit of the community! Open to all ages, it’s a cheerful challenge to see who can grow the tallest, brightest, or most impressive sunflower.
