With one in three mouthfuls of the food we eat dependent on pollination, bees are essential to our existence and with many species facing extinction, the reliance on bee keepers is now crucial.
SiB’s Community Bee Hive Project aims to educate and practise bee keeping, with the help of The Bee Farmer, to aid pollination in and around Swadlincote.
Currently located at the Cadley View Hill Care Home on Darklands Road, our first beehive has been up and running since July 2021, thanks to many generous donations and our own fundraising.
We have recently funded a bee keeping course for one of our volunteers to help look after the bee hive.
We are aiming to raise another £500 for the next hive and bee colony. We are very grateful for every donation received. Here are 3 easy ways to make a donation:
